Mint and Navy Research 48 × 36 Academic Poster
48 × 36 in research poster at 150 dpi, the large-format trade standard. Every type size is set from the distance it is read from — 0.1 in of type per foot, so the title reads at fifteen feet, the section heads at six and the body at four. The figures are real charts with their axis type set from the same rule; a chart pasted in at its default 7.5 pt is readable from one foot on a sheet this size. Three columns give a 70-character measure, which is why it is three and not two.

What you get when you open it
The template opens in the studio as a 1-page document at 48 × 36 in, with the trim, the bleed, the margins and the 150 DPI target already set. 62 elements are on it and every one is separate: 39 of them are live text you retype rather than artwork you work around.
The safe margin is 1 in top, 1 in bottom, 1 in left, 1 in right. Nothing you want to keep should cross it, and anything meant to run off the edge has to reach the bleed line 0.25 in outside the trim.

How printing works
Open any of these and it is already the right size. Bleed, margins and trim are set, and there is no watermark on anything you export — on any plan, ever.
