My projects have disappeared
Your gallery reads this browser's storage on this device. If it is empty, something about where you are looking has almost always changed. Work down this list in order.
1. Are you in the same browser?
Projects made in Chrome do not appear in Safari, and vice versa. They are separate stores. Open the browser you were using before.
2. Are you in a private or incognito window?
Private windows throw everything away when they close, and they start empty every time. If you built something in one and closed it, it is gone — there is no recovery. Use a normal window.
3. Are you signed into a different browser profile?
Chrome and Edge keep separate storage per profile. Check the profile picture at the top right of the browser window.
4. Did you clear your browsing data?
"Clear browsing data", "Empty cache", and most cleaner utilities delete site storage along with the cache. That removes the browser copy of your projects.
If you had connected a folder, your work is still there. Go to your gallery and look at the button in the header:
- If it says Projects: reconnect, click it. Only the permission was cleared, not the files. Choose the same folder and your projects load back in.
- If it says Projects: browser only, click it and point it at the folder you used before. Crevano reads the
board-*.jsonfiles out of it.
5. Do you have a .crev file?
Open it — Open project… in the gallery header. See Open a project you saved.
6. Was it a different device?
Nothing syncs. A project made on your phone is on your phone.
If none of that finds it
Write to [email protected] and say which browser and device you were using, roughly when you last had the project open, and whether you had ever connected a folder. A real person reads it. We cannot recover the file — we never had a copy — but we can often work out which of the above happened and where to look.
So it does not happen again
Do one of these today. It takes under a minute.
- Connect a folder. Gallery header → Projects: browser only → pick a folder. From then on every change is mirrored to real files automatically. Chrome and Edge only.
- Save a
.crevfile of anything you would be upset to lose, and keep it somewhere you back up.
See Save and back up your work.
