Install Crevano on your device

Crevano can be installed so it opens in its own window with its own icon and no address bar, like any other program. Nothing is downloaded from an app store, and it is the same app — just without the browser around it.

The quick way

  1. Go to your gallery.
  2. Click Install app in the header. (The same button is in Settings in the left rail.)
  3. Confirm.

If nothing happens, the button tells you what to do on your particular device instead. Here is the same information written out.

By device

Chrome or Edge on a computer — click the install icon at the right-hand end of the address bar, or open the menu and choose Install.

Safari on a MacFile → Add to Dock.

iPhone or iPad — tap the Share button, then Add to Home Screen.

Android — tap the menu, then Install app or Add to Home screen.

> Note > Installing needs a secure connection. On a plain http:// address the option will not > appear, which is why it works on crevano.app and not on a local test server.

What you get

  • Its own window and icon. It sits with your other applications.
  • It works offline. The whole app, its element library and its typefaces are cached, so a lost connection does not stop you working.
  • Double-clicking a .crev file opens it — on Chromium desktop browsers. And ⌘S afterwards writes back to that file rather than asking where to put it, the way a normal document behaves.

What it does not change

Where your work is kept. Installing does not move anything to a server. Your projects are still in that browser's storage on that device, and you should still save .crev files. See Where your work is saved.

Removing it

Uninstall it the way you would any other app on that device. Your projects stay where they are — they belong to the browser's storage, not to the installed shortcut.
